In brief
What does restaurant pest control include?
A restaurant pest control program includes a site assessment, scheduled visits (monthly is common), monitoring devices for rodents and insects, targeted treatment of cockroaches, mice and flies, sealing of entry points, and a written service report after every visit, so you have records ready when a health inspector asks.
Which pests affect restaurants most?
German cockroaches, house mice and rats, and flies cause most restaurant problems in the GTA. Cockroaches hide in warm equipment and wall voids, rodents follow deliveries and garbage areas, and flies breed in drains and waste.

What's in a restaurant pest control program
- 01
Site assessment
We map the kitchen, storage, garbage area and entry points, and note the conditions pests use.
- 02
Scheduled service
Regular visits timed outside your service hours, with monitoring stations checked and logged every time.
- 03
Targeted treatment
Gel baits and crack-and-crevice treatment in harbourage areas — kept away from food-contact surfaces.
- 04
Service reports
A written report after each visit: activity found, work done, and recommendations for your staff.
Staying ready for a DineSafe inspection
Toronto Public Health inspects food premises under the DineSafe program, and pest activity is one of the things inspectors look for. A documented pest control program helps you show what's being done and catch activity early. (General information, not compliance advice.)
- Keep every service report in one binder or folder, in date order
- Close gaps around pipes, doors and dock seals — we'll mark them for you
- Store food off the floor and in sealed containers
- Clean floor drains and under equipment on a schedule
- Call as soon as staff see activity; don't wait for the next visit
Frequently asked questions
How often should a restaurant have pest control?
Most restaurants use monthly service. High-risk sites (24-hour kitchens, older buildings, lots of deliveries) may need visits every two weeks. We recommend a frequency after the site assessment.
Can you come outside our opening hours?
Yes. Visits are scheduled around your service so treatment doesn't interrupt the kitchen.
Do you provide service reports?
Yes. Every visit ends with a written service report you can keep for your records and show an inspector.
How much does restaurant pest control cost?
Restaurant programs are priced by site size, visit frequency and the number of monitoring stations, and quoted after a free site assessment.
